About
About Cursor Cove
A small set of free tools for one small, fiddly part of web design: the mouse cursor.
What it does
Cursor Cove helps you draw a custom cursor, set its hotspot, look up every built-in CSS cursor, add a trail effect behind the pointer and write cursor CSS that falls back gracefully. Each tool has its own page, listed in the menu above.
How it works
Everything runs in your browser. Drawings, images and settings are processed on your own device by the page's JavaScript; the PNG, .cur and CSS files you download are made there too. Once a page has loaded it keeps working without a connection. The .cur writer and reader follow Microsoft's published description of the ICO and CUR file format, and both are covered by tests.
Where the facts come from
Browser behaviour, size limits and support notes come from MDN's cursor reference and MDN's browser compatibility data. Browsers change, so the gallery lets you see the real thing on your own system.
What it does not do
There are no accounts, no uploads, no advertising and no cookies. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views, without cookies and without tracking you across sites; it never receives what you draw, type, paste or drop into the tools. The privacy page has the details.
Sister sites and recommendations
The footer links to five sister sites with related free tools, and to CleanTempMail and WebTraceCheck, two services recommended on the home page. They are separate sites with their own policies.
